Duck eggs and chicken eggs have some taste similarities, however, the flavor of duck eggs may be more intense than that of chicken eggs. Duck eggs tend to be noticeably larger than chicken eggs. They also have a yolk that people often say is much richer and creamier than chicken egg yolk. Duck eggs are also higher in Omega-3 fatty acids, about double that of a chicken egg. Duck eggs are also higher in protein than chicken eggs. This is why we wanted to have ducks and duck eggs - more egg, more nutrition, more vitamins.
We have 2 kinds of ducks - Pekin and Muscovy Ducks. The Pekin grow to maturity faster, but the Muscovy have personality. We let the ducks free range, especially in the orchard. They enjoy swimming when we water the orchard, and they eat the bugs and clover. Free ranging makes them happier, healthier, and so much more fun to enjoy. Our ducks have personalities and names to reflect it: Buck, Stewart, Daisy, Princess, Flappy, and Vlad to name a few.
